On Wednesday 5th June Beech class went to Bradford-on-Avon to look at the railway and its station because we are learning about Brunel.
We walked from Avoncliff to Bradford on Avon along the canal and the river so that we could compare the man-made canal with the natural river. We had lunch in the park and finally travelled back to Avoncliff by train.
On our journey we sketched and labelled the aqueduct, the bridges, the lock and the station building. Before getting on the train we treated ourselves to an ice-cream on a canal boat while we watched a local canal boat artist (Ginny Davis Barlow) paint pots and pans in the traditional style.
We are going to have a go at this style of painting back in school. We were very lucky with the weather so we had a tiring but really fun day.
