Funding

St Mary’s School receives the pupil premium and sport premium from the government. This funding is granted to the school in order to support those children who are entitled to free school meals or who in the last six years have had entitlement to free school meals. Here is the outlay of the pupil and sport premium spending for our school, together with the impact we feel it will have on the children.

Pupil Premium

The pupil premium is additional funding for publicly funded schools in England. It’s designed to help disadvantaged pupils of all abilities perform better and close the gap between them and their peers.

Sport Premium

Schools receive PE and sport premium funding based on the number of pupils in years 1 to 6. In cases where schools don’t follow year groups (for example, in some special schools), pupils aged 5 to 10 attract the funding.

Catch up funding

Catch up funding allocations are allocated on a per pupil basis with each school receiving £80 per child from YR to Y6. The funding is designed to support schools to provide additional learning opportunities or resources to enable children to maintain their level of learning which has been impacted by the global pandemic.

The planned expenditure of the catch-up funding is linked to the recommendations in the Education Endowment Foundation’s (EEF) COVID-19 Support Guide for schools. Supporting great teaching and small group tuition are the priority strategies for all primary schools in The White Horse Federation.

The White Horse Federation has worked with the school to ensure the funding:

Allows pupils to access technology in the event of remote learning and facilitating access to support in school.

Provides professional development opportunities for middle and senior leaders to support leading and planning of the curriculum.

Provides teachers with training and support through the system leader networks to improve the quality of teaching.
